ARTHRITIC PAIN

Arthritis is commonly used to describe the diagnosis of Osteoarthritis (OA), however, there are many different types of arthritis, that can be both degenerative and inflammatory, that can affect any joint in the body.

Osteoarthritis is degenerative in its nature, usually following damage or infection to a joint, or as a result of simple “wear and tear” that occurs to the body as we progress through life. Arthritis of an inflammatory nature, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), is less common and the symptoms are often more severe, affecting the whole body not just individual joints.

To get a diagnosis of arthritis can seem very negative and scary and can leave you feeling like there is nothing that can be done to help, but often people have significant benefit from manual therapy, that can be used for any joint of the body from hands to feet!

The use of gentle stretching and exercising combined with specific massage techniques and joint mobilisations can help strengthen your muscles and joints and address joint stiffness, relieving pain and improving mobility. Acupuncture has also been shown to have beneficial pain relieving effects for arthritis patients and is gentle to the body. Treatments are always tailored to your individual needs to help you stay active and enjoy life.
